Many thanks also to Annemarie, Katja, and Karin for their reports from the summer of 2024, about six months after their Ayurvedic treatment at the Wasanawan Villa...

...and from Guilia and Jenny...

Our stay in December 2021 at the Wasanwan Villa in Sri Lanka:
We, two girls in our late 20s from Baden (Germany), were guests at the Wasanwan Villa for five days.
The hotel is run by Silke and Lucky, the owners. Both are very hospitable, attentive, and strive to fulfill their guests' every wish. Silke is originally from Germany, commutes between continents, and is trained in Ayurveda. Lucky is a native of Sri Lanka who also lived in Germany for several years. Lucky has excellent connections in Sri Lanka and always strives to fulfill almost every wish of his guests. He takes great care to ensure that his guests are always well looked after and can move around Sri Lanka completely freely.
Silke and Lucky organized a five-day tour of the sights of Sri Lanka for us. They were particularly attentive to our wishes, suggestions, and ideas. The organization of the tour was excellent; we didn't have to worry about a thing! Our German- and English-speaking guide was already waiting for us at the airport. Since we were a bit tired from the flight, our guide immediately folded down the car seats so we could rest a bit until our first stop, an elephant breeding station. The hotels, as well as the driver and the guides for the sights, were all booked in advance. Silke and Lucky chose the accommodations very well. They weren't typical tourist hotels, but really good local hotels with a very special, local flair, which allowed us to get to know Sri Lanka and its people. The five days were full of experiences and impressions of an extraordinary country. Our guide looked after us the entire time. He handed us over to the guide right at the start of a sightseeing tour and was waiting to pick us up again at the end of the tour. The same thing happened with the hotels where we stayed. Lucky was in constant contact with him. We really saw a lot, were well looked after and looked after, and now, after five days, we're a bit exhausted and worn out.
Upon arriving at the Wasanwan Villa, we felt at home from the very first moment. The intimate atmosphere of the small hotel with its four guest rooms immediately made us feel like we were arriving home with friends in a stunningly beautiful country. We particularly liked the fact that every day there were freshly cooked, typical local dishes prepared by the family in the traditional way. Silke and Lucky were happy to accommodate our individual dietary requests. For breakfast, we had fresh fruit every morning, practically straight from the tree to our breakfast table. The fresh fruit is incredibly tasty and full of flavor, something you would hardly find in Germany. In the evening, there was a varied menu, including European dishes upon request, such as fresh grilled fish. Lucky takes great pleasure in cooking for his guests. Since he knows the local cuisine as well as German cuisine, the food is always a real treat.
The hotel also has its own tuk-tuk driver who drove us very reliably from A to B and always kept an eye on us, so we felt very safe at all times.

What makes Wasanwan Villa special is its Ayurveda concept. Silke successfully completed a year-long Ayurveda training course in Sri Lanka. It is a particular concern of hers to familiarize her guests with this traditional Indian medical health system, which offers a wide range of therapies and healing methods. We were new to Ayurveda, and to begin with, a very experienced, kind, and compassionate doctor took an hour to diagnose our health. We felt very comfortable. At our request, Silke accompanied us and explained the special features of Ayurveda in more detail. The doctor recommended specific remedies and healing methods for our therapy, which Silke then explained to us in more detail individually. Silke also accompanied us to a local pharmacy and showed us which remedies the doctor recommended and how to use them. We found this very caring and beneficial. The Wasanwan Villa also offers other activities such as wonderfully soothing Ayurvedic massages, morning yoga at palm tree top level on the roof terrace, meditation, and simply relaxing, unwinding, or spending a few lovely hours on the stunningly beautiful and deserted beach, which is about 300m away on foot from the Wasanwan Villa.

For us, the hotel has an exceptional and special value because Silke and Lucky were very welcoming to us and took a lot of time to make our vacation as wonderful as possible.
Overall, it was a wonderful holiday with great experiences, as Silke and Lucky showed us the country in their own way.
Thank you both very much!
Keep it up!
We will definitely see each other again, see you soon …Giulia and Jenny
